Poisoning my mom to Norco and Xanax. She desperately wants to get off, just all these detox programs in our area cost thousands of dollars we don 't have. She is currently living off of SSI and I am full-time university student. Is there some way we could do it cheaply or for free? Are there charities out there that do this sort of thing for the people? She 's hooked for more than five years and their health is beginning to deteriorate accordingly. She 's tried cold turkey, and each phone number in the relevant book (including local churches). Looks like we 've exhausted every possible option that we know of. Comments? I live in Northern California, Bay Area of San Fransisco

  1. There are programs available that are free. You did not mention the state you live. I had a family member who was addicted to prescription drugs and the detox (2 week stay) was free. She was receiving little income before her treatment,,so I’m not sure if low-income was a factor.

  2. I don’t even know what Norco and Xanax are…. but I’m sure you could find something to replace them with that looks similar. The placebo effect might soften the blow for long enough for the cold turkey thing to work.

Random note: the only reason cold turkey wouldn’t work is if she is particularly weak-willed. She needs to strengthen her resolve.

  3. i’m not aware of what state you live in but i was that same type mom until i was accepted into tarzana treatment center. they put you on a waiting list and when the county has on opening, they admit you. tarzana tratment center is located in L.A california they also have other goverment drug rehabs in ca the average detox can be costly, but i know of three free without making a phone call (WORD OF MOUTH)if they dont have state drug rehab with waiting list, there must be in a near by state, good luck,
